How to Create a Skincare Routine

by Melissa Chichester

Do you have a skincare routine?

Your skin can play a role in mental health, as it is a part of your appearance that may influence your confidence and how you feel about yourself.

The foundation of healthy skin starts with a nutritious diet, adequate sleep, and hydration. In addition, a nourishing skincare routine can help keep your skin looking radiant and glowing.

What is a skincare routine?

A skincare routine is how you nurture your skin’s beauty from day to day, in the morning, throughout the day, and at night. And contrary to what influencers may make you think, a skincare routine can be simple and doesn’t require twenty bottles and tubes cluttering up your vanity.

Four-step simple skincare routine

Step 1: Morning cleanse

In the morning upon waking whether you shower in the morning or at night, it’s important to wash your face with a gentle cleanser.

While you are sleeping, your skin may collect debris from your pillow, sweat, pets, and residue that wasn’t removed the night before. This is why cleansing in the morning is so important.

Rinse your face with warm water. Massage a cleanser into your skin in slow circles, then rinse. Take your time to make it a luxurious, pampering experience! Give it a try with our  Crushed Cucumber Cleansing Cream. This luxurious cleanser will work deep into the pores to cleanse and refresh your skin.

Step 2: Apply serum

A skin serum is a product with a thinner consistency than a moisturizer designed to deliver extra nutrients to the skin.

Vitamin C Serum provides the antioxidant protection of two types of vitamin C.*

Hyaluronic Acid Serum nourishes your skin for a youthful-looking, healthy glow. A serum can help refresh your skin with extra hydration.

Co Q-10 is found in cells and on the skin surface where it acts as an antioxidant. The good news is Co Q-10 is in our skin serum which helps to provide plump hydration.

Step 3: Apply moisturizer

Moisturizer is an important part of your skincare routine. The outer layer of your skin is known as the skin barrier. This barrier is what is constantly exposed to the elements and what you come into contact with daily.

Moisturizing your face helps nourish this barrier and provides a buffer layer between your skin and the environment, whether it’s harsh winds or cold, dry air. Most importantly, a moisturizing layer helps reduce dryness and delivers nutrients to the skin.

For example, Elastin Firming Crème can help improve your skin’s appearance for a more youthful look. This formula includes elastin, oils, collagen, and vitamin E. Or you can choose Wrinkle Raiders to help you glow.

Step 4: Evening cleanse

Do you ever think about what your skin is exposed to throughout the day? Makeup. The weather. The sun. Pollution. Sweat. Going to bed with that all over your face isn’t healthy for your skin – or your overall well-being.

Make washing your face a priority every evening – and never sleep in makeup, as that can clog pores and cause skin issues.

Instead, cleanse your skin with warm water and a gentle cleanser to remove impurities that have built up during the day.

To pamper yourself even more, consider using a face mask after cleansing. You can even make one at home using simple ingredients you might have on hand, like this Aloe and Tea Tree Hydrating Face Mask.

As you can see, a regular skincare routine can be simple and enjoyable. And when you take care of your skin, you can feel radiant, beautiful, and confident.
