Sports Nutrition Simplified. Cutting Through the Clutter

Cutting Through the Clutter

We are big fans of fitness mantras like “strive for progress, not perfection” and “fitness is a journey, not a destination”. They state the truth very simplistically and at the core of each mantra is a motivational message.

Like you, some of us here are weekend warriors, some of us are long-time bona fide fitness fanatics and others are just beginning on a new fitness journey. We understand the struggles and share the triumphs.

The one thing that unites us all is the most important part of any fitness routine – nutrition. That leads us to another familiar saying “fuel your fitness.” No matter if you are training to improve fitness, looking to lose fat or gain muscle (or both) you can only get out of your body what you put into it. No matter how hard you train, if you are skimping on nutrition or fueling your body with junk food, you are only hindering your efforts.

These days we have all kinds of advice on training nutrition available at our fingertips through all our technology. However, too much information can be overwhelming and sports nutrition is sometimes intimidating; particularly if you don’t consider yourself an athlete.

So, we’d like to help you cut through the clutter. When it comes to sports nutrition, you don’t need to be a professional athlete to reap the benefits. In fact, sports nutrition is intended for anyone and everyone looking to boost their fitness training nutrition. When we say anyone, we mean it. The Puritan’s Pride Fitness line was developed to help you each step of the way on your fitness journey.

We have heard all kinds of reasons why people don’t think sports nutrition supplements are for them and one of the most popular claims we hear is “I don’t have time to figure it all out.” Get ready to strike this excuse off your list.

Perhaps this quick guide can help:

Amino Acids:

Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein.** They are necessary for health and wellness.** Amino acids are essential for life – we could not survive without Amino Acids in our diets.**

So, which fitness supplements provide Amino Acids? L-Glutamine and BCAA Complex are just two ways to get Amino Acids into your nutrition routine. L-Glutamine is important to help replenish the levels of glutamine that are depleted during your workout. Doing so will help effectively support recovery after intense exercise.** Glutamine acts as cellular fuel in muscles to provide energy for your workout as well as support protein metabolism.** BCAA Complex is designed to help support protein metabolism in muscle tissue.** BCAAs (which stands for Branch Chain Amino Acids) can be used to build protein or they can be broken down in the muscle itself to supply a direct source of energy.**

Creatine:

Considered a key, foundational supplement for those looking to get the most out of their workout, Creatine Monohydrate Powder may help boost muscle strength and power.** When taken daily, Creatine will support increases in muscle strength, power and recovery.** Creatine is useful during short-term, high intensity exercise.** And, Creatine Monohydrate plays a key role in energy flow.**

Protein:

There are a lot of protein powders out there, so it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Let’s specifically take a look at Whey Protein Isolate. This particular form of protein is considered a fast protein because it hits the bloodstream quickly.

Whey protein is considered to be an excellent protein source because it has been shown to have a high protein digestibility, biological value, protein efficiency ratio, and amino acid score.** All these factors measure overall protein quality. Whey protein isolate supports muscle mass.**

Puritan’s Pride Fitness Whey Protein Isolate has been highly purified using microfiltration techniques that help ensure an isolated whey that contains a high protein percentage and leaves behind minimal lactose and fat. This easy-to-use powder form of protein can easily be incorporated into a sensible nutrition plan. Whey protein isolate is a great way to get high quality protein to help support your fitness goals.

Protein powders can be mixed with water for a delicious drink, blended with yogurt and ice for a smoothie, or even added to other smoothie recipes for a protein boost.

Short, and very informative. Would appreciate more articles of this type on sport’s nutrition. They would provide guidelines on what supplements to purchase for our individual and personal goals.
