Lemon and Chamomile Highlighting Hair Spritz

In junior high, I loved dousing my brunette hair with over-the-counter highlighting products that were not friendly to managing healthy hair. Now that I’m older (and hopefully wiser), I still enjoy the look of sun-kissed hair, but achieve it using a different method: a DIY hair spritzer fueled by lemon essential oil and chamomile tea.

Ingredients

1 cup brewed chamomile tea

½ cup fresh lemon juice

20 drops lemon essential oil

½ teaspoon coconut oil (melted)

Directions

Allow tea to steep until it cools to room temperature. Add lemon essential oil, lemon juice, and coconut oil to the tea, and mix well. Pour into a light-resistant spray bottle (brown glass is best). To use, spray on hair (wet or dry) whenever you will be outside in the sun. For controlled results, spray on specific portions of hair and comb through.
