Go “Green” for Spring Cleaning Season

Go 'Green' for Spring Cleaning Season

Tips to Help Lighten Up Spring Cleaning Chores

It’s finally time to throw open those windows and let the fresh air in. After a long winter, cabin fever has finally gotten the best of us. We’re more than eager to shake off the winter blues, dust off the cobwebs, toss out the junk and give the house a thorough scrubbing.

A great place to start the spring-cleaning process is your stash of health and beauty items. Do you have supplements lurking in your cabinets that are older than your children? Check the dates on your vitamins and over-the-counter items to see if they are still fresh. How about those lotions and potions? If they are dried out or separating, toss them.

Did you know that storing supplements and OTCs in the bathroom is not recommended? The high moisture level in the bathroom may erode the potency of these products. It’s best to keep these things tucked away in a cool, dark, dry place safely out of reach of children.

While you’re checking dates and making a list of items you need to replace, don’t forget about the items your family needs every spring. If the great outdoors beckons you to get outside, it may also mean there will be seasonal sniffles and occasional cuts and scrapes. Now is the time to stock up on sinus support products and first aid essentials like creams and Aloe Vera moisturizing lotion.

The next task to tackle is the deep cleaning. Ever thought about “green” cleaning? If you’ve ever wanted to ditch the harsh chemical cleaners and go for a pure clean with simple ingredients, read on. Not convinced green can be clean? Give one of these “recipes” a try and then decide.
