12 Uses for Tangerine Essential Oil

by The Puritan's Pride Editorial Team

Citrus essential oils like lemon, grapefruit, and bergamot are known for their zest, but the sweet indulgence of cheerful tangerine oil is surprisingly mellow.

Fun Facts

In ancient times, tangerine peel was regarded as an essential element to guide qi, the life force in traditional Chinese medicine. Because of this, oil extracted from the peel was used in herbal tinctures to calm skin. It became a popular agent in Ayurveda, especially in therapeutic massage and warm baths, especially among pregnant women who benefitted from its soothing properties. While the East has enjoyed tangerine oil for over 3,000 years, it did not reach Europe until 1805, and it came to North America in the 1870s.
