New Zealand’s Unique Nectar Has an Exotic Taste & Potent Profile

There’s the healthy buzz about Manuka Honey! Red Clover honey is old news. Today it’s Manuka Honey – cheerfully made by happy bees from the pink-white blooms of New Zealand’s manuka tree — that is generating a healthy buzz.

Manuka Honey has been cherished by New Zealanders and Australians for generations, both for its rich taste and wellness-supporting properties. And with the healthy buzz about Manuka honey, the rest of the world is now catching on, too: Manuka Honey has become quite popular, with demand for the dark, rich nectar continuing to grow.1

So what makes Manuka Honey different from regular honey? For one thing, it tastes different. Because of the unique notes imparted by manuka flower pollen, the honey tastes much more complex, and has a darker color and creamier texture. Manuka Honey’s taste has been described as “earthy,” “floral” and “herbaceous,” with a pleasing hint of bitterness.

The main identified active ingredient associated with Manuka Honey’s wellness benefits is a natural compound called methylglyoxal (MGO). All varieties of honey contain some MGO. However, research has suggested Manuka Honey has up to 100X the concentration of active MGO as regular varieties.

I was wondering where I could purchase this product and I see that Puritans Pride carries it! I love honey and I am big believer that it can help one significantly when he or she is sick, especially when suffering from a cold. I keep honey on hand all year long and I look forward to trying the Manuka honey. I am amazed that this honey is being called creamy because I don’t think I have ever tasted creamy honey. It just goes to show that there are many variety of foods that are located all over the world that I don’t know about.
