The first thing to understand about cholesterol is that there are three types of cholesterol levels that health care professionals measure. The three types are: Total Cholesterol, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) Cholesterol, and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) Cholesterol. Triglycerides are another type of fat in your bloodstream that health care professionals also measure.
The beach can strike fear in the hearts of brave men. It isn’t the threat of man-eating sharks, jellyfish, or rip currents that make them shiver. It is the thought of having to remove their shirts and reveal a winter’s worth of overindulgence.
We all know there are things we could and should do for our ‘own good’ to make our lives better. Eating, sleeping, exercising more, being present… it is so easy to say, but when you make a huge list, it can feel overwhelming. I try to take care of my health as best I can and, since at this point in my life I’m an empty nester, our dog has become an integral part of our little family. It goes without saying that he’s the “other” child and it’s important to me to make certain that he is as healthy as he can be as well.
If you’re like us, you get excited every time you read or hear about chocolate being beneficial for your health and wellbeing. Turns out, there is actual science behind this statement.
I live in a world of coffee drinkers. There is a coffee shop on every corner. It is often the main thing I hear people clamor for first thing in the morning, and it comes in so many different varieties that the uninitiated could easily be overwhelmed. I will admit to indulging myself as well (once I figured it all out), but the truth is, I was born in to a tea-drinking family.
