3 Easy Tips to Get Your Kids to Take Vitamins

I can hardly believe that my kids will be back in school in a few weeks! I know that I say this every year, but where did the summer go? It’s time to start thinking about back to school supplies, new clothes and getting us all back on a strict schedule. I have to admit that I’m not quite ready for it.

Part of that schedule inevitably includes the morning routine of getting my kids up and out of bed, getting them dressed, feeding them breakfast, getting them to brush their teeth and take their vitamin.

But sometimes getting them to take their vitamin can be tricky, and below are some suggestions that can help!

Try chewable or gummy vitamins. If your children have trouble swallowing pills, try a chewable vitamin or gummy vitamin. Heck, I don’t even like swallowing pills and prefer a chewable or gummy vitamin! They taste great and your kids shouldn’t have any issues with the flavors. In fact, they may like the taste so much that you’ll need to remind them they only need one serving a day!

Create a routine. We create routines for our children with breakfast and bedtime, so why not a vitamin routine, too? I have found that after breakfast is a perfect time to give my children vitamins because their tummies are full (an empty tummy can sometimes make them a bit nauseated after taking vitamins).

Explain the importance. When my children get resistant about taking their vitamins, I try to remind them that they are taking them to help support their bodies. It doesn’t always work, but I do find that explaining why we are integrating vitamin C, calcium or the like into our lives puts them at ease.
